Hemant Soren to Return as Chief Minister

Champai Soren tendered his resignation to Governor C P Radhakrishnan on Wednesday evening, paving the way for Hemant Soren to return as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand.

Champai Soren had taken oath as the Chief Minister on February 2nd, 2024, following the arrest of Hemant Soren in a land scam-linked money laundering case. However, Soren's stint as the Chief Minister was cut short after just 152 days in office.

Hemant Soren, who was arrested on charges of money laundering, has since been released on bail. He has staked claim to form the government in Jharkhand and is likely to be sworn in as the Chief Minister soon.

Champai Soren, an old party loyalist, had taken over the reins of the state due to Hemant Soren's arrest. However, with Hemant Soren's return, Champai Soren has stepped down.
