LA to Host 2028 Summer Olympics

City to Leverage Existing Infrastructure, Aim for Cost-Effective Games

Los Angeles Wins Bid, Tokyo Games Exceeded Budget

The 2028 Summer Olympics have been awarded to Los Angeles, marking the city's third time hosting the prestigious event. The Games will be held in existing venues and leverage the city's infrastructure, aiming for cost-effectiveness compared to the recently concluded Tokyo Games, which surpassed their budget by 128%.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass accepted the Olympic flag at the closing ceremony in Paris, solidifying the city's role as the next host. The Games will feature iconic events such as gymnastics, swimming, and track and field, as well as new additions.

LA's previous Olympic Games in 1932 and 1984 left behind a legacy of infrastructure, including the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and the Rose Bowl. The city also boasts one of the newest and most technologically advanced sports stadiums in the country, the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood.

The 2028 Games are expected to leave a lasting impact on Los Angeles, promoting tourism, economic growth, and urban development. The city aims to deliver a memorable and sustainable Olympic experience while embracing its role as a global sports hub.
