Paul Heaton Praised for Putting 'Greedy' Oasis to Shame After BBC Radio 2 Performance
The Beautiful South frontman has been hailed for his 'generous' act, while Oasis have been slammed for their 'greed'.
Heaton performed a set on BBC Radio 2's Live Lounge on Monday (22nd August), where he surprised fans by inviting his support act, The Lathums, to join him on stage for a rendition of his classic hit 'Perfect 10'.
The move was praised by many on social media, who contrasted it with the behaviour of Oasis, who have been criticised for refusing to allow their support acts to perform full sets at their Knebworth Park shows last weekend.
One fan tweeted: "Paul Heaton is a true gentleman. He invited his support act, The Lathums, to join him on stage during his BBC Radio 2 Live Lounge set. This is in stark contrast to Oasis, who refused to let their support acts play full sets at Knebworth."
Another said: "Well done to Paul Heaton for inviting The Lathums to join him on stage. It was a brilliant performance and a great example of how to support up-and-coming bands."
Heaton's performance has also been praised by The Lathums themselves, who tweeted: "We had an absolute blast playing with Paul Heaton on BBC Radio 2 Live Lounge. Thanks to Paul for inviting us and to the BBC for having us."
The contrast between Heaton's and Oasis's behaviour has led to some fans calling for a boycott of the latter's upcoming shows. One fan tweeted: "I'm boycotting Oasis's Knebworth shows because of their greed. They're charging extortionate prices and refusing to let their support acts play full sets. I urge others to do the same."
It remains to be seen whether Oasis will respond to the criticism, but their actions have certainly damaged their reputation among some fans.
